Rescheduling

Forecast errors come in two directions, some guesses are higher than actual demands while others are lower. Expeditors react only to demands that exceed the forecast. A good planning system also reacts to the others by “de-expediting” when demands are less than forecasted. When the scheduling system reacts in both directions, the people executing the schedules have a much better opportunity to perform on time.
